Welcome to my world! It's sometimes routine, sometimes crazy, and through it all I yearn to travel (and do accomplish some of that).

The Last Season

By Phil Jackson

I'm currently in Michigan, visiting my older sister and husband. I'll be here through Sunday, and go home Sunday afternoon.

My trip home was unique and different last weekend. I flew to Denver, caught a ride to Nathrop, CO (where my younger sister is working at a ranch). I didn't have a lot of time to spend with my sister, but it was still worth the stopover there. We did a little hiking/getting lost in mountains (driving on the way out of that area), shopping, and more. It was great, and if I hadn't done it, I wouldn't have seen her until Christmastime.

One more week at home, and then it's back to Navy-world. Stay tuned to this later...I may try to elaborate on things.

Wednesday, July 20, 2005 much going on!

A Very Long Engagement

Starring Audrey Tautou

Life has been so busy this last week. I got into a fight on Friday with my roommate of three weeks. The issue that caused us to fight brought to light all the things I really don't like about him and can't stand. So, in the end, I ended up moving out at the first opportunity (Sunday). I was disappointed that it didn't work out, but it is DEFINITELY for the best, so I can champion the move. I am currently semi-homeless in Washington state this week, though. As I was moving on Sunday, I rented storage space, and moved about 1/2 to 3/4 of my belongings there. Other than that, I moved them upstairs in the apartment where another co-worker lives. I'm currently staying there this week too, sleeping in the living room on my mattress and box spring, until I go on leave. After that, when I return the second week of August, I'll find a new living situation.

To review, I couldn't go to Snoqualmie Falls on Saturday to due some inconsiderate and selfish behavior on the part of my roommate. AUGH!

Two days till I go on leave, and spend time with (in this order): my little sister in Colorado, my older sister and hubby in Michigan, and my parents/friends in Illinois. I'm so excited (I just can't hide it)!

C'est la vie!

Woe, I'm a Travelin' Man

Today is Friday....which I'm very excited about! I'm excited for the weekend -- both to go out and about, and to stay home and watch movies. This weekend, I'm going to head out a little ways and take a short hike here:

Snoqualmie Falls

It seems quite cool, don't ya think? I've had it on my list of spots to see since I saw info/pictures of it online a couple months ago.

The remaining majority of my time this weekend will be spent watching new movies from Netflix, movies I have out from the library (which are all due tomorrow!), and the fine movies that cable offers me.

Life is ________!!

Currently Reading:

Mudhouse Sabbath

To prepare for this current write-up, I browsed on-line for life is _______ quotes. Among some good ones I found, are these:

"Life is chunky"
"Life is a soft adventure"
"Life is hard"
Life is confusing for two-headed snakes"

All I really seek to say is that my life is good in large degree. I am currently eating well, living comfortably, and sleeping plenty.

I have had a couple instances of having folks over to the new place this last week to eat. We had a barbecue over the weekend, and had co-workers/friends, and their wives over. This last week, one co-worker/friend stayed at the apartment with his wife and child (baby 11 months old!!) who were out here visiting for a couple weeks. Then during the barbecue, we had them around, and one more little family added to the mix who had two kids of their a baby and one a couple years older.

I'm gearing up for more travel as I write. In approximately 10 days, I'll be hitting up Denver, CO for the weekend, and out southwest of there, where my little sister is slaving away this summer. The logistical details still have to be worked out, but I think I've come up with something that works. Due to the high population of bed and breakfasts as the only method of lodging in the area, I didn't know what I was going to do at first. Now, I believe I've found a campground close by....but I still have to see how close it is. I'll be down around there for two days, and then be hopping on Greyhound for a 20 hour ride home.

Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.

I began my departure from New Mexico this morning at 9...with leaving Gallup. My flight out was from Albuquerque again, at 12:10 pm. I went through the same steps getting home as I took going out there. I rushed it back to Everett, and got here to watch the fireworks from the flight deck onboard the ship.

That's all I'll report now, since I don't have the time or energy to get into depth. Tomorrow, I'll be working, so I shall take some time to describe the second half of the trip (Sunday and Monday), and describe these pictures below. Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!

Friday Night Lights: A Town, A Team, and a Dream

I am currently in Gallup, New Mexico. In the last twenty-four hours I have made a big hop, a big skip, and big jump to get here. I drove down to Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR last night to visit with an old teacher of mine and her family. This ended up not to be (at least for that day), due to holiday weekend traffic and losing the directions and more. After that not working out, I went to the airport, parked, and camped out in a lounge I found there. I was surprised to find no USO in the Portland Airport. I stayed up till the wee hours reading the newspaper and my book. Then, I fell into sleep for just a couple hours and woke up at about 6 to catch my flight.

My cousin André and family picked me up from the airport today, after my parents missed their flight on account of a missing wallet. They got a later flight tonight, and are due to arrive here at the house at 12:30 in the morning. After arriving with André and company, we went out to eat with the grandparents.

That's it for now. I'm happy to be traveling, despite the headaches. I'll post on the events of the reception et al tomorrow.
