THE SAILOR'S LOG II

Welcome to my world! It's sometimes routine, sometimes crazy, and through it all I yearn to travel (and do accomplish some of that).

I know it's a tad late in the game, but I encourage everyone to donate to the Red Cross. I did donate online today myself. I know if any of us were in the same position as those in New Orleans et al, we'd want all the help we could get...and would want the relief to get to us as soon as possible.

You can donate as little as $5 online with your credit card, or as much as your wallet can handle.

Hotdogs With Honey

Currently Rockin' Out to:

Blessid Union Of Souls - Self-titled

I am currently underway on the glorious vessel. Quite frequently, they have been serving burgers and hotdogs (and in the shortest of the four lines, I might add), and that gave me inspiration for a random title and idea. Some point in the near future, I am going to try an interesting mix of hot dogs and honey, and see if that's a good mating or not. When the time comes, I'll put that out for the world to know my opinion on such.

The underway time has been quite productive so far, and emotion-wise pretty good as well. We're approximately 9 days into this business, and have about 9 more days till Everett. I've been successfully accomplishing all the projects that have been put in front of me and my section of the office. I use me, and my in that sentence because I am now largely responsible for these successes.

Since being advanced, and the onset of this underway, I've stepped into a leadership role. In my opinion, I am doing quite well with the change. I've worked out a good mix of showing the junior folks under me that I'm willing to do half the work and organizing, so they'll step up to finish the other half...and will respond when I ask them to do something. I haven't worked out all the kinks yet....I still have one person to figure out. Often, if I ask him to do something, it'll take him six hours, and further reminder, to actually do what he was asked. I still have good hope for it though. In latest days, he's actually surprised me with some smart ideas, thinking, and exploring ways to do things better. If only I could see him doing the general request tasks well, everything would be going super-smooth. We still have a week and a half, so I'll see how things work out.

I'm off to relax now. I hope the weekend is going well for all landlocked folks.
